GOLDEN MONASTERY - NEPAL
Sakyamuni Buddha is known as Hiranyavarna Mahavihara or Golden temple.
The Hiranyavarna Mahavihara ( Sanskrit means "Golden Monastery", but all the tour guides call it the Golden
Temple ) is the most opulent little temple in Nepal. The three-tiered pagoda occupies one side of the cramped
courtyard of Kwa Bahal, a still-active twelfth-century Buddhist Newar monastery and the spiritual hub of old
Patan.
