ÐỨC LA PAGODA - VIỆT NAM

Ðức La Pagoda ( also known as Vĩnh Nghiêm Tự ) built in the 12th century , was a centre of the Trúc Lâm Trinity: King Trần Nhân Tông, Pháp Loa and Huyền Quang resident monks. The pagoda is situated in an area of rolling hills (80km north of Hà Nội - Bắc Ninh). In the background is the Cổ Tiên mountain range and to the left is the batiks of the Lục River . In front of the pagoda are vast ricefields dotted with villages and hamlets hidden behind green bamboo groves. Over 700 years have elapsed but the architectural structures remain intact. Ðức La Pagoda remains a major training centre of Buddhism with wooden shelves for the printing of Buddhist sutras still conserved as evidence of the important role of Vĩnh Nghiêm Tự.
