Sojiji ( official name Moro-okazan Sojiji ) located in Kanagawa, Yokohama on the area 190,000m2 , is the other head temple of Soto sect of Zen Buddhism. It was founded by Keizan Jokin in 1321 , and along with Eiheiji temple in Fukui, has been a training place for Zen monks. Sadly, in 1898, it was destroyed by fire. Later, the main sanctuary was moved to Yokohama and this temple became an annex of the main temple. Now it is well-known as an instructional temple for Zen monks.
