SIONG LIM TEMPLE - SINGAPORE


The full name of Siong Lim Temple is Lian Shan Shuang Lin Si (Twin Grove of the Lotus Mountain Temple). The temple at 184E, Jalan Toa Payoh, was built by Hokkien merchant and devout Buddhist Low Kim Pong on a four hectare piece of land, the temple took about 11 years to complete, from 1898 to 1908, and is now classified a national monument. The temple has a highly decorated gateway, accessible only by bridge, which opens into a courtyard.
