GURI EMIR MAUSOLEUM - UZBEKISTAN


The Guri Emir (or Gur-e Amir) mausoleum in Samarkand ( Uzbekistan) commemorates the Mongol emperor Timur the Lame, or Tamerlane (1336-1405), who conquer most of Central Asia. He died when marching eastward to invade China. After death of his grandson , Timur the Great ordered to build the mausoleum Guri-Emir (Tomb of Emir.) Later on the mausoleum became the burring vault for the whole-dynasty of Timurids.The majesty of architectural forms and lines, the colorful of mosaic makes this mausoleum a unique monument of Central Asian architecture.
